Big bottles for special occassions. Very limited quantities
This Pinot Noir was selected from individual barrels of the 2011 vintage. It comes from a hillside vineyard we use in our Russian River Pinot Noir blend, so we only rarely bottle it separately. This wine is on the bolder side of Pinot Noir but not too extracted. Pinot Noir ages very nicely in Magnums, slowly developing layers of delicate aromas and flavors.
89 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - December 2013
We decided to bottle large format bottles from this vintage because the quality was so good, the wine so balanced, that we knew it will age well with the slower oxygen exposure experienced by wine in magnums and Jeroboams. Drink 2017 - 2022
One of the last remaining of this great Alexander Valley Vineyard, once an Apple Orchard.
Blended with input from Surf-legend Greg Long. This wine honors the men and women that charge the monster waves at Mavericks.
This wine, nicknamed "Rhino Chase" - the name surfers use for the big "Gun" surfboard used to chase large waves, is a fully-loaded hillside Cabernet Sauvignon. It has ample Tannins and layers of great fruit flavors.
90 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
This Cabenet from a hillside vineyard in Alexander Valley is only made in excetional vintages. With 5% Merlot to soften some of the tannins, this wine will still benefit from some years of ageing in the bottle. The image on the label, by our friend Doug Acton is of a monster wave breaking at Mavericks, a world famous big wave spot outside Half-Moon-Bay.
This single-vineyard hillside Syrah is only produced in great years, this is one of them!
