Tasting Rooms are everywhere... what we have crafted is more a place to interact with the creative process of making and enjoying wine. Yes, the ceiling and some of the walls are decorated with surfboards but don't let this distract you... At Longboard, it is the wine that takes center stage. The surf artifacts, the stories, the people - they are but the drivers that fuel our passion for great-tasting wines, true to their varietal composition, true to the place. Come on by, relax and let us offer you a fun journey.
We didn't make millions in high-tech and dump it in a fake Tuscan-style Villa in the wine country. We promise we won't fill you with stories about the fog or how you can't possibly appreciate a wine unless it was served in a $50 leaded-crystal glass. In fact, we will welcome you the way you are and tell you right off-the-bat that the only thing that matters is your own palate. Some of us love black licorice, others gag at the smell of it. Roughly half of us love the way cilantro adds flavor to some dishes and the other half experience a "soapy" taste that they can't stand.
At the SURFLOUNGE (that is what we call our tasting room) we offer you a place to explore your taste buds and hopefully discover something new. For example, we are one of few wineries that makes an estate Merlot from a cooler region. We just love seeing folk's eye's widen in wonder after a taste: "Wow, I didn't know I liked Merlot!". We also make a very unique Brut sparkling wine in the Champagne Method, ours is 100% barrel fermented in neutral casks and finished very dry. There is a lot to explore, and we do it in a relaxed manner, aiming to engage each visitor in a real conversation (rather than just tossing out meaningless facts at you). Come on over, there's plenty of parking and it's but a two minute walk from the downtown Healdsburg Plaza, right by the railroad tracks - where the renegades thrive!
