1999 Cabernet Sauvignon - Rochioli Vineyard

A single vineyard Cabernet, planted in the 1960s by the Rochioli family who continue to nurture this intense, low-yielding property. Aromas of blueberries and violets with layers of hazelnut and vanilla. The flavor in the mouth escalates with black currant and light spice. The lingering finish is all about sweet tannins and hints of toasted oak.

Cool climate grapes from this famous vineyard yielded a tannic wine that shows enormous promise. Brims with peppery cedar, cassis aromas and flavors. Bone dry and austere now, but the solid core of chewy fruit suggests prime aging potential, reminiscent of a young Pauillac. The Winemaker, Oded Shakked, is the longtime winemaker at J Wine Co.
