2002 Syrah - Russian River Valley
Inspired by the wines of the Northern Rhône region, our Russian River Valley Syrah is a spicy little number with an ocean spray-in-your face fresh balance of earthy and fruit notes. Lush, without being heavy, with licorice, blackberry and cola notes that yield to coffee and earth nuances. One percent of Cabernet ensures the wine will age as gracefully as you. |

The 2002 vintage in the Russian River Valley was marked by relatively low crop levels. A late spring frost and some rainy days in May where the only "little surprises" nature sent our way. Overall, the growing season was long with warm days and cool nights, a textbook mild season that resulted in full pheolic development in the grapes. A period of warm days in October ensured good final maturation flavors and helped the grapes in this little hillside vineyard achieve a good balance. |

Best of Year 2004
Score: 91 (100 possible)
Dark, big, rich and very fine. Starts off with elaborate and inviting aromas of smoky oak, blackberries, cocoa, coffee and spice, and turns superrich in the mouth, offering oodles of ripe, berry fruit and oak. Dry and complex, with soft, lush tannins, it's a beauty. |
